“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”- Lao Tzu

The Second Phase of our Cadet Attachment Program is the Station Immersion, after the day of travel from the Academy to the City of Pines, 12 Police Cadets rendered a courtesy call to Baguio City Police Office. PLtCol Renny Lizardo, FC, CMFC, and PMaj Leonardo Danasen, the Acting CARMU of BCPO welcomed and accommodated us. During the call, schedules, tasking, and activities were discussed to be executed for the whole period of the Station Immersion and the areas to focus on, which would be the PNP’s Quad Concept, specifically, the Intelligence, Operations Section, Investigation Section, and PCR Section. Also, pieces of advice were given pointing out the do’s and don’ts during the immersion to improve our performance of duties. The conduct of the courtesy call is the first step for the Station Immersion to pursue, for it is very important for both parties to coordinate and cooperate in order to achieve the main goal of the said activity.

He delivered the words of God highlighting public safety and law enforcers must involve themselves not only in physical and mental activities but also in the spiritual aspect. Also, he imparted that one must focus on being a religious leader in the field of law enforcement. Adhering not only to the laws of the land but above all to the laws of God as the basis of all of man’s actions. In terms of leadership, spirituality equates to fundamental strength. It is the source of all the qualities that define a leader, including conviction, inner strength, humility, compassion, and fearlessness. The Pastor is part of the Advisory Council of the Station and in line with the Chief PNP program, Station 4 strongly adheres to the KASIMBAYANAN program of the PGEN Rodolfo Santos Azurin Jr.

After which, with the supervision of PLtCol Renny Lizardo, he instructed his subordinates to conduct low-risk vehicular checkpoints.[2] "Checkpoints are important in maintaining public safety and deterring criminality in the streets. However, such checkpoints must not cause inconvenience nor intimidate citizens but, instead, should provide them a real sense of safety and security." DIDM, C,HRAO. (2013). Vehicular or pedestrian traffic check is usually done in order to enforce circulation, control measures, and other laws, orders, and regulations that aim to deter or even solve the crime by the apprehension of erring individuals. In line with the program of PNP and as part of the PNP's anti-criminality effort, this activity was done to identify lawless individuals and prevent unlawful activity while also strictly enforcing traffic regulations within the area of responsibility.

During the checkpoint, we observed that most of the SOP in conducting the checkpoint was met and through the help of PCPT Langaoan, he patiently discussed the do’s and don't while conducting the checkpoint, and also he imparted the best practices of Baguio Cops in dealing with reckless violators. After the checkpoint, our supervisor PltCol Manzano quoted to us “ Today you are mere observers, but in the future, you will be the overall supervisors”. This line challenged us all in facing the real world after graduation and this also made us realize to truly internalize all the learnings and knowledge that we will gain during our Station Immersion.
