Learning the fundamentals. This is the principle of knowing the basics, the backbone, or the structure that we need to arrest the advanced knowledge aligned to any concept. It is indeed an intention that we take easy on the fundamentals as we think that it is only by the application that we see and realizes its worth. Learning the basic should always be done through practice. We tailor it with relevant applications to understand the truth, decipher the meaning, and realize its application to real life. Indeed, learning the fundamental scaffolds advance knowledge and its application in a real-life setting.
We value learning. It may come uneasy for a cadet who exposed himself in the classroom’s four corners with theoretical knowledge and assumptions of what is truly happening just behind the high walls. Great, indeed, that there are opportunities where theoretical knowledge of the fundamentals is further explored. As part of the immersion, on January 25, 2023, at about 1330H, we, PNP cadets engaged in a lecture about the investigation as a unit, its roles, and functions.
Theoretically, we have come across these learning units, however, listening from those who really are in the profession and practice, is worthwhile. In the entirety, we supposed that our assumptions were just basic units in mind but, listening to their sharing of the real battle as law enforcers, made me reflect on the challenge that I may face in the future.
We must say, “We cannot argue enough about the learning we earned during our classroom engagement.” These are tidbits that we need to link with the present opportunities and challenges. During the lecture, we came to insist that we are truly living in a chaotic world. That we shall not dream of the so-called, “perfect community”, “the safest place to live” or the “happiest city”, rather we should cling to the fact that social disorders are part of community development. These are the motivating factors for us to co-create a social setting where our engagements and interactions are free of fear, anxiety, and troubles.
Learning behind the blackboard is a tool for social development and progress. Without professional engagements, there would be no technological advancement and upgrade. Without knowing the real battle in the community, there would be less innovative ideas, no political paradigm shift, and less possibility of alleviating the life of every member of society.
