Through the efforts of PLTGEN Cesar Hawthorne R. Binag (Ret) and Bobby Caingles, the book “44 Days of Faith and Valor was materialized. A real-life story of brave Filipino men who fought and dedicated their lives to the welfare of the country. Together with passages directly from first-hand experiences of patriots, the book also showcases words of God that serve as a guiding light for officers upon the performance of their duty.
The six-month training to become a fully pledged Commando and be given the opportunity to wear the black beret is an opportunity that only a selected breed of individuals can achieve. Elite members of SAF dedicate their time to training and enhancing their skills in order for them to perform at their peak, for the reason that they operate and respond to classified missions. The book “44 Days of Faith and Valor”, sets the reminder that devotion is important to whatever the daily activities will be. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for those who have access to the book and take a look at the first-hand experiences of officers during the conduct of their operations.
The book has seven partitions. Each partition highlights a particular chapter in the life of every officer. The life of an officer is very demanding, therefore it is vital for an officer to indulge oneself with the gracious words of the Lord. Furthermore, the book serves as an eye-opener for those who only have a limited idea about the lives of the officers which will enable them to have a wider perspective. This proves that the book aims to reach a multitude of readers.
The book is beneficial to all sorts of readers, either from the civilian community, a cadet, or a member of the uniformed personnel. Thus, make it a routine to read a few chapters as undoubtedly it will provide enlightenment. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the life lessons from the book and apply them to one’s life whenever possible.
How amazing it is that a book was made possible through the life stories of the defenders of our land. Indeed, I am hopeful that more work with the same genre will be supported and published in order for the general public to have a deeper understanding of what officers go through each day. At the same time, it is an interesting medium to indulge in daily for it provides unlimited blessings of morality and spirituality which in fact needed by humanity.
